2009 Wayne Township Holiday Schedule

160th Celebration Birthday Picnic

Saturday September 12 was a beautiful day to celebrate Wayne Township’s 160th
Birthday and to enjoy visiting with family, friends and neighbors. This was possible
through the generous donations of so many people and the hard work of our township
coordinator Tootie Welsh.

Thanks to the Ellwood City Borough for donating the use of the Ewing Park facilities.
Jared Gibbons presented the Wayne Township supervisor Dennis Hall with a citation
Commemorating our 160th year, which he accepted on behalf of the Wayne Township
residents.

Our guest speaker was Joshua Lamancusa, Democratic candidate for District
Attorney in the November elections. Residents were enthusiastic with the hope of his
help in cleaning up our community of drug dealers.

We would like to thank Jerry Cartwright for taking the time to attend our picnic. And
a personal thank you to Dom Viccari for the floral arrangement.
The following people advertised on the newsletter that enabled us to buy the
delicious sliced beef from Paul’s Market. The Color Center, Howard Agency, Armstrong

Graham for the sandwich buns, Teresa McMillen for entertaining the children, Rodger
and Jennifer Brenneman, Joe Taranto, Buffy Menosky, Renee Borselli, Barb Maine,
Mary Jane Navolio for selling shirts and 50/50 tickets at the picnic, Randy Kirchel, Quinn
and Heather Methany for the historical picture display board, Dennis Hall and friends of

Wayne Township residents for the paper products. We would also like to thank Anna and
Ron Aiken for providing the musical moments by Fred Kelleher, which had the crowd’s
blood pumping and feet a tapping.

Thanks to Sandy and Tony Busin for coordinating, the Car Cruise and we also want to
thank all of the Car Cruisers. Also the following businesses for donating the prizes for
the car cruisers drawings: Advance Auto Parts, Allied Auto Parts, Tony Busin Inc.,
Alborn Tire Sales.

Thanks go to the following for donating gifts for the goody bags given to the
Cruisers: ESB Bank, Mark Aiken Refuse, Northview Estates, Color Center, Franklin

Want to thank the Ellwood Wampum Rod and Gun Club for the refreshments and the
use of their land to have the fireworks Saturday night, and the Chewton Fire Department
for being on call at the event. A special thank you to the Zambelli Fireworks
Manufacturing Co. Inc. for the donation of their fireworks display.
Jim Spielvogel won the 50/50 raffle. Gift certificates were won by the following:
Tina Pronesti, Tony Busin, Norberta Modliszewski, Buffy Menosky, Michele Bauder,
Leo Sicard, Jim Spielvogel. Anna Graham won $25 gift certificate from Loccisano’s for
being the oldest resident in attendance. Audrey and Rich Borison won $25 gift
certificate from Loccisano’s for having made the first reservation for our picnic.
